รู้มั้ย พลาสติก PETสามารถรีไซเคิลและนำกลับมาใช้ใหม่ได้ไม่รู้จบ!
บรรจุภัณฑ์ทุกขวดของคอมมอนกราวด์ผลิตมาจากพลาสติก PET แต่ไม่ใช่ PET ธรรมดานะ แต่เป็น rPET พลาสติกที่ผ่านกระบวนการรีไซเคิลจากขวดที่ใช้แล้วให้กลับมาใช้บรรจุผลิตภัณฑ์ได้อีกครั้งนั่นเอง และทุกคนรู้มั้ยคะ ว่าทุกๆ การรีไซเคิลขวด PET 1 ตันจะช่วยลดการผลิตพลาสติกใหม่ซึ่งเทียบเท่ากับการช่วยประหยัดน้ำมันดิบได้ถึง 1,000-2,000 แกลลอนเลยทีเดียว
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) เป็นพลาสติกที่มีความทนทาน น้ำหนักเบา หลักๆ ถูกนำมาใช้เป็นขวดน้ำดื่มใสๆ ที่เราดื่มกันทุกวัน พลาสติกประเภทนี้มีความพิเศษคือสามารถนำมารีไซเคิลได้ถึง 100% เลย! โดยเค้าสามารถแปลงร่างไปเป็นสิ่งของต่างๆ อย่างขวด บรรจุภัณฑ์ เสื้อผ้า ใยหมอน แถมมีวงจรชีวิตที่สามารถนำมารีไซเคิลอีกได้ไม่รู้จบ หากจัดการอย่างถูกวิธี ขยะ PET จะถูกนำสู่กระบวนการทำให้เป็นเม็ดพลาสติกอีกครั้งเพื่อนำไปแปรรูปเป็นสิ่งต่างๆ อีกต่อไปเรื่อยๆ โดยไม่ต้องพึ่งพลาสติกที่ต้องผลิตใหม่ แต่เรื่องที่น่าเศร้าของ PET คือ ในปี 2017 ประเทศเราผลิตพลาสติกประเภทนี้ออกไป 185,000 ตัน แต่ขยะ PET ที่ถูกจัดการอย่างมีคุณภาพจนได้กลับมาสู่วงจรรีไซเคิลอีกครั้งมีไม่ถึงครึ่ง ที่เหลือต้องถูกฝังกลบเป็นขยะที่ค้างอยู่ในโลกต่อไป TT ปัญหาคือเรายังจัดการขยะได้ไม่มีประสิทธิภาพนั่นเอง

Common Ground bottles use rPET plastic or 100% recycled PET plastic, which can then be recycled again infinitely. It’s hard to completely cease our everyday plastic usage but what we can do is reduce, reuse and recycle them.
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) is durable, lightweight and versatile. A lot of packaging in the convenience store is undoubtedly PET. But most importantly, PET can be recycled up to 100% and countlessly through proper waste management and recycling process. They can be transformed into other forms of packaging or threaded into polyester fabric for clothing, thus a decrease in demand for new virgin plastic. Though unfortunately, as of 2017, Thailand has yet to recycle half the amount of its plastic trash. Together let’s look forward and do our part, otherwise those trash may end up in the stomachs of our fellow sea creatures. We can’t let that happen can we?
