แอลกอฮอล์เป็นส่วนผสมทั่วไปในผลิตภัณฑ์ Personal Care เรามาดูกันดีกว่าว่า ทำไมต้องใส่แอลกอฮอล์ และมันมีประโยชน์หรือโทษและส่งผลต่อผิวเราอย่างไร
แอลกอฮอล์ที่ผสมอยู่มีด้วยกัน 2 ประเภทค่ะ คือ
❌ แอลกอฮอล์ที่ไม่ดี คือแอลกอฮอล์แท้ อย่างเช่น Ethanol, Ethyl Alcohol, Denatured Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol พวกนี้จะทำให้ผลิตภัณฑ์แห้งเร็ว ทาลงบนผิวแล้วให้ความรู้สึกที่ดีในช่วงแรก โดยเฉพะคนผิวมันจะรู้สึกได้เลยว่าความมันบนผิวลดลง รูขุมขนกระชับขึ้น แต่ก็เป็นผลดีในระยะเพียงสั้นๆ หากใช้ไปนานๆ จะทำให้ผิวแห้ง ผิวไม่สมดุล และสามารถเข้าไปรบกวนกระบวนการสร้างและซ่อมแซมผิวตามธรรมชาติได้ และในบางคนก็เกิดอาการแพ้ได้ด้วยนะ แอลกอฮอล์เหล่านี้เป็นประเภทที่ส่งผลเสียต่อผิวเต็มๆ เลยค่ะ ควรหลีกเลี่ยง
✔️แอลกอฮอล์อีกประเภท คืออนุพันธ์แอลกอฮอล์หรือที่รู้จักในนาม Fatty Alcohol ชื่อจะลงท้ายด้วย Cetyl, Stearyl และ Cetearyl Alcohol ซึ่งเป็นแอลกอฮอล์ที่ดี สกัดจากน้ำมันธรรมชาติ หากใช้ในปริมาณที่เหมาะสมจะไม่ก่อให้เกิดการระคายเคืองเหมือนแอลกอฮอล์จำพวกแรก อีกทั้งยังมีประโยชน์ต่อผิวเรา ปลอดภัย มีคุณสมบัติช่วยให้ครีมมีเนื้อสัมผัสที่ดี คงตัว และช่วยส่งผ่านวิตามินและความชุ่มชื้นสู่ผิว
ในผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ระบุว่า Alcohol-Free หมายความว่าผลิตภัณฑ์นั้นไม่มีแอลกอฮอล์ประเภทแรกจำพวก Ethyl Alcohol ซึ่งเป็นแอลกอฮอล์ไม่ดี เเต่อาจจะมีส่วนผสมของแอลกอฮอล์ดีที่เป็น Fatty Alcohol เราควรสังเกตฉลากเเละศึกษาส่วนผสมก่อนเลือกผลิตภัณฑ์ที่เราจะใช้กับผิวของเรา โดยเฉพาะคนผิวแพ้ง่าย เพื่อให้ได้ผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ดีที่สุดและไม่ทำร้ายผิวคุณในระยะยาวนั่นเองค่ะ

❌ Bad alcohols are true alcohols such as Ethanol, Ethyl Alcohol, Denatured Alcohol and Isopropyl Alcohol. These alcohols makes your skin dry. When first applied, they might give you desirable effects especially on oily skins because it’s a great de-greaser and works to tighten your pores. But beware, because these effects only last so long. After timely usage, the drying effect kicks in and intensifies, thus resulting in skin imbalance and ultimately interferes with your skin’s natural repair system. Some people are also found to be allergic to these alcohols. Steer away!
✔️ Now let’s talk about the good guys or Fatty Alcohols like Cetyl, Stearyl and Cetearyl Alcohol. They can be obtained from natural sources like coconut oil. And the good news is that they are non-toxic, non-irritant and biodegradable. The safer and better emollient for your skin, and also gives your skincare desirable texture and stability.
When labels say “alcohol-free”, it most likely means that the product contains no bad alcohols, namely Ethyl Alcohol most of the time. But instead utilises Fatty Alcohols which are beneficial to your skin.
